Event marketing

I enjoy combining my skills – writing, creativity, editorial vision, design and storytelling – to design themes for campaigns and events, such as the 2019 Healthwatch North Yorkshire Annual General Meeting. The “Getting There” theme, built around directional arrows and an Underground-style map of services, does double duty – summarising the main theme of the accessibility (or otherwise) of health and care services in a large rural area as well as serving as a subtle metaphor for the progress of the organisation in the past year.

Below are examples of event branding, copywriting to accompany publicity and invitations to the event and a video encompassing the themes and branding as well as the slides produced for the presentations on the day. My duties here included Eventbrite management of and communication with attendees and supporting with venue liaison.

Healthwatch North Yorkshire AGM: Tuesday December 10, National Railway Museum, York

Our Annual General Meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at the National Railway Museum, York, from 10am until noon.
The theme is ‘Getting There’, focusing on our growth over the past year and the road ahead, alongside a focus on transport and rurality – the big issues for health and social care in our county.
You can book free tickets to attend our AGM here. Full details are included below.

In England’s largest county, the challenges facing those providing health and social care are amplified.

Rurality, isolation, transport issues and long distances to services present another bump in the road around what is an already hugely complex landscape for those tasked with keeping us well and looking after those in need.

At the Healthwatch North Yorkshire Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, December 10, at the National Railway Museum in York, we will be looking back at our Annual Report for 2018-19, in which we highlighted our work in helping to bring services closer to people’s homes, giving people a voice in mental health care planning and working with service users on changes to mental health services.

But as the independent champion for people using health and social care services in North Yorkshire, we’ll also be reporting on our progress as an organisation after a year of growth, and what we’re working on now.

We’re also focused on the road ahead.

As outlined in our Annual Report, in addition to mental health services, people in North Yorkshire told us their main worries were difficulties in getting GP appointments, transport issues and lack of services in rural areas.

These concerns were echoed in the findings of our consultation on the NHS Long Term Plan this year, when people in the county again told us access to primary care, long distances to hospitals and a lack of transport in rural areas were the key issues facing the NHS as it looks at how best to deliver services in future.

These priorities are our priorities, so we will be discussing our current and future projects looking at issues affecting rural communities in North Yorkshire – including transport, isolation and access to services and support – and investigating issues around people’s experiences accessing primary care services including GPs, dentists and pharmacies. We’re also working with people on the future of local hospital services and issues emerging from our extensive outreach work across this huge area.

We’re on track for a bright future supporting the people of North Yorkshire, so join us at the National Railway Museum on December 10, where you can find out more about our work – and let’s see if between us we can come up with some bright ideas to make the journey ahead a smooth one.

If you’re coming, please let us know and book here.

Given our theme, we wouldn’t want you to have any trouble getting here – so we chose a venue near the rail station with free parking for delegates. Please let us know if you have any special access requirements by emailing admin@healthwatchnorthyorkshire.co.uk.
